Overview

RBC Avion Rewards is a major Canadian loyalty program where travel is one of the primary ways members redeem and earn value. Expedia Group powers Avion’s travel storefront via our white‑label template, and that experience is surfaced inside the RBC Avion Rewards native app for iOS and Android.

Timeline

Avion members experienced travel as two disconnected worlds, a native Rewards Hub and an embedded white-label web view while we and RBC were constrained by very different UI capabilities on each side (tight design limits for native banners, shared web components reused across partners). The business case was to create a single, coherent Avion travel story across that split experience where entry points, messaging, and banners felt consistent and on-brand without exceeding what RBC’s native app could realistically support or breaking our shared Expedia banner and merchandising systems.

The work made Avion travel feel like a single, integrated journey for members, gave our teams a clear playbook for designing the seams between native and web, and became a key showcase in the RBC conversations that helped support renewal of the RFP contract.

This work was carried through from discovery to delivery, shaped through multiple rounds of iteration, and is slated to ship in Q4 2026.
